Performing Media: from videoteatre to videomapping and the urban storytelling

Performing media is a field of research that originates in the field of digital cultures, and even before the media-based research theater, both radio and video, in particular with the video-theater, an Italian peculiarity developed in the early eighties.

Today it is increasingly concerned with the anthropological condition given by the development of the enabling technologies, which are themselves powerful of the new interactive, mobile and geolocated media.

This results in a new man-machine relationship, increasingly symbiotic, made fluid by the simplicity of use and by the perceptual and sensorial solicitation of the evolved solutions of interaction design where the aptic interface with a gesture explicitly extends the body.

Digital technologies become so powerful in the way directly proportional to the performance of our actions.

This is creating a new paradigm for what we call culture: the relationship between man and the world is not only mediated by technologies but involves a sensible integration between natural and artificial.

Theoretical reconnaissance will evolve from the experiences of the video theater, crossing the first interactive performances to get to the different forms of video-visualization and light experience to that performing media urban storytelling that also uses nomadic video projections.
