In this light installation, sacrality and science meet ancient folk wisdom, offering an insight into the sacred mystery of creation and life. The Nest, a symbol of the wholeness and complexity of life in its primordial and expansive form.
In human symbolism, the nest is a welcoming, safe space where we receive love and nourishment, just like in the womb. In Christian symbolism, it is linked to Paradise as the nest of Pelican (Christ), in Buddhism it represents Nirvana, and through the phoenix bird it is linked to resurrection and rebirth.
Our association can take us from the nest, through the magnified image of an atom, to a galaxy, or even to the totality of our vast world, to the boundaries of the universe. Along this trail, deep in our consciousness, ancient truths may be revealed. What is outside is really inside. In every tiny part there is the whole, like a drop in the ocean. Like a hologram.
Using the medium of Augmented Reality, visitors can bring to life a 3D audiovisual composition encoded in Augmented Reality (AR) technology to complement the physical embodiment, using their own mobile phones. The virtual visual layers, which are accompanied by an audio composition courtesy of Gergely Álmos (mïus), can be viewed using the free downloadable Artivive app.
