From the Land of Toys to the belly of the whale, the second act is a journey into shadow — temptation, fall, transformation into a donkey, and finally return. A darker, truer Pinocchio, who stops running and begins to understand. Mathieu Vignon's illustrations grow denser, more charged: the cloister becomes an oneiric and claustrophobic space, the Renaissance architecture transformed into the walls of an awakening conscience. Fiorenzo Carpi's music, reworked by Carlo Gizzi, sheds the lightness of the first act and takes on weight, melancholy, a beauty that hurts.
