Francesco Consaga is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger whose artistic journey seamlessly bridges the discipline of classical training with the expressive freedom of jazz.

Born in 1956, he developed his musical foundation through formal studies, graduating in flute under the guidance of Edda Silvestri. This academic background provided him with a strong technical foundation and a refined interpretative sensibility. Alongside his classical training, Consaga devoted himself to an in-depth exploration of the saxophone, particularly the soprano saxophone, developing a warm, intimate, and immediately recognizable sound that favors musical storytelling over mere virtuosity.

His encounter with jazz and improvisation marked a turning point in his career, leading to an extensive concert activity first throughout Italy and later across festivals and jazz clubs throughout Europe.

Alongside his work as a jazz performer, Consaga has always embraced interdisciplinary collaboration, finding a natural connection with theatre and film. He has worked extensively as a stage musician and composer, creating scores for theatrical productions and projects for the Italian public broadcaster RAI. During this period, he collaborated with leading figures of Italian culture, including director Lina Wertmüller and actor and director Patrick Rossi Gastaldi.

Within the Italian singer-songwriter and pop-jazz scene, Consaga has maintained a long-standing artistic relationship with Rossana Casale. A core member of her ensembles for many years, he has toured extensively with her and contributed his flute and saxophone performances to critically acclaimed recordings such as Joni, a tribute to Joni Mitchell, and the Christmas album Round Christmas.

Today, Consaga divides his time between teaching, live performances, and a number of ongoing artistic projects. These include Hologramduo, the ensemble Tres, and his collaboration with classical pianist and organist Marco Lo Muscio, with whom he explores repertoire that brings together sacred music, progressive rock, and classical-jazz traditions. His discography includes numerous recordings released by Italian and Spanish labels, many of which are available on the major digital streaming platforms.
