[Text available only in English] Victor Vasarely (1906, Pécs – 1997, Paris) was a key figure in the abstract geometric art that became an international movement known as Kineticism.
By shifting and intersecting the lines and planes that make up his compositions he produced works that created the illusion of protrusion or indentation, and his distinctive style exploded into the public consciousness in the mid-1960s as “op art,” setting off a wave of fashion that still continues today.
